CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLES WORKFORCE

LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLES WORKFORCE

Learners must either be employed or volunteering in an appropriate role and have the full support of their employer in order to enrol. This work-based qualification is aimed at learners who are working in early learning and childcare, social care, learning development and support services. Gaining a QCF Level 2 qualification is suitable for those working as an assistant in a children’s centre, nursery or playgroup, care worker, youth and community worker or registered childminder or nanny. Children and Young People’s Workforce is designed for people who wish to work in the childcare sector. SUPPORTING TEACHING AND LEARNING IN SCHOOLS

LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN SUPPORTING TEACHING AND LEARNING IN SCHOOLS – TRAINING COURSE

This qualification will enable learners to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special schools. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and communication and professional relationships. It is also a must-have for all those undertaking the Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship. Who is it suitable for? Anyone who is working in a role that supports pupils’ learning. As well as providing an excellent knowledge base, this PEARSON Level 2 Certificate is ideal for: Students who want to achieve a nationally recognised qualification Those aspiring to achieve a career as a teaching assistant or working in a school or college setting Learners who want to kickstart their knowledge and further their career What are the entry requirements? LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN SUPPORTING TEACHING AND LEARNING IN SCHOOLS

The course comprises eleven mandatory units: Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults. Schools as Organisations. Support Learning Activities. Promote children and young people’s positive behaviour. Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults. Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people. Support assessment for learning. Engage in personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings. Support children and young people’s health and safety. Understand child and young person development. Understand how to safeguard the well-being of children and young people. Each student is asked to complete a number of tasks based on their work in schools. These tasks will then build into a portfolio of evidence submitted at the end of the course. There are no formal examinations. ASSESSMENT All units are internally assessed. Assessment enables the learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. This course requires an assessment of your practical skills within your working environment. It is essential that you secure a placement that can provide you with a suitably qualified teacher and workplace assessor who can observe you, comment on your skills and write a report to meet the assessment requirements. This direct observation will be used as evidence towards your qualification. Methods of assessment could include: Direct observation of practice Witness evidence when directed by the sector skills assessment strategy Professional discussion Reflection on own practice in real work situations Written assignments COURSE DURATION Once enrolled, you will have *one year to complete this course, which will allow you to work at your own pace, without the pressure of tight deadlines. During this course, you will need to complete a recommended 100 placement hours. You will also receive 12 months of tutor support for the course so you can feel confident that you’ll get the help you need.
